Progress and Change

Sorry it's been so long since I posted anything. Things have been a bit crazy around here dealing with the aftermath of Sophie's mom passing away and what will happen to her now. Currently, I am in the process of helping to set up a perpetual sponsorship program for Taw Saeng, not only to help Sophie be sponsored, but also to get funding for the rest of the kids' school fees.

As far as where Sophie will live, I am cautiously optimistic that she will end up living with me in a foster family type situation, at least until I return to the US in April. At that point, Ning would take over foster parenting duties. I am moving in one week into a 3 bedroom house near Taw Saeng, Sophie's school and her current community. Ideally it will all work out and she will avoid being sent to an orphanage. It's not set in stone yet, so please continue praying for a good outcome.

A bit about the child sponsorship program:

Though it is in its infancy, a quick breakdown goes as follows. School sponsorship: Children in K-6th grade will be sponsored by one person or group for $200 a year for school fees, grades 7-12 will be sponsored by up to 3 people for a total of $600 per year of school fees. Children without family support (like Sophie) will be under the full sponsorship program and will be sponsored at $300 per month by up to 10 people. Sponsors will receive quarterly updates via email, a twice yearly letter and picture by snail mail and be able to send letters or gifts to their sponsor child. This would also be tax deductible! If you are interested in sponsoring a child, please let me know! You can post a comment here or email me at hma.scripty@gmail.com. I will try very hard to post a more comprehensive update this week!
